I am not able to login to my filer via system manager. I keep getting this

Version of DOT? Is http/https running on it?

Can you try it in multiple browers?
Also, check to see if there is a different version of System Manager available that is compatible with the newer DOT version.

Installed it on another machine and now I seee this

ok looks like I had tp enable tls on the filers
option tls.enable on
then it worked. is this not a good practice?

TLS is fine - that ensures HTTPS communication. Otherwise, you use HTTP, which is in plain text.
