Parameters of SnapCreator Agent 4.0p1

Hi All,

we have SnapVault backups as a service in a public cloud to backup our servers with DB2 databases.

Our provider uses SnapCreator Server 4.1 and so we use agents of version 4.1 as well.

We configured <SnapCreatorDir>/scAgent4.1.0/etc/agent.properties to set the greater value of the parameter WRAPPER_TIMEOUT_IN_MSEC (default is 3600000 msec that is 1 hour) on the servers with large amount of changes to fit in the timeout.

But we had to install SnapCreator agents 4.0p1 on 2 AIX-servers and there is neither "etc" directory nor "agent.properties" file for SC 4.0p1 agent.

What path, file name and parameters should we use for configuring the agent ? Do you know some links where I can find more info about SC agent 4.0p1 configuration ? I didn't find any.

Best regards,

Sergey

Sergey,

The Snap Creator 4.1 agent is more advanced than the Snap Creator 4.0 agent.

There is no 4.0 equivalent to the WRAPPER_TIMEOUT_IN_MSEC

That is because in 4.0 there is no wrapper - it is a simple perl based agent.

The only agent timeout value for 4.0 and earlier is in the config file:  SC_AGENT_TIMEOUT=3600

This is also available in the GUI in the Agent tab on a configuration file.

Hope this helps,

John

Hi John,

thanks for your reply.

Where is the parameter set up - on server or agent side ?

Sergey

Sergey,

The SC_AGENT_TIMEOUT parameter is configured within the configuration file.

Technically this is on the server side.

You can either directly edit the parameter in the configuration file, or you can use the GUI.

If using the GUI, log in, select a profile then a configuration file, and click the agent tab.

You'll see a value in that section that says:  Timeout (secs)

Adjust the Timeout value, then click save and reload.

Hope this helps!

John
