1.Can SMMOSS2.0 restore data to a different farm?

2.Does SMMOSS2.0 have the catalog of the backup?

  Is the catalog in the media server if there is a catalog?

1. SMMOSS 2.0 can absolutely do that. The feature is called "Out-of-Place" restore.

2. Yes.
