I assume you are talking about ONTAP based snapshots? An idea could be to configure a NetApp Unified Manager alert and there are a number of events that you should alert on which the events could/would prevent snapshots not being completed.
- Max Snapshot Check Per Volume
- Too Many Snapshot Copies
- Volume Snapshot Reserve Days Until Full
- Aggregate Snapshot Reserve Full
- Insufficient Space for LUN Snapshot Copy
- StorageVM Storage Class Snapshot Usage Limit Exceeded
- StorageVM with Infinite Volume Snapshot Usage Limit Exceeded
- Volume has Insufficient Local Snapshot Protection
- Volume Snapshot Copy Reserve Under-utilized
- Volume Snapshot Reserve Space Full
