Add disk shelf to live E Series

Hi,

Im looking to expand my E2624 with a 5600 shelf.

I have read and understood the cabling (I think) however one question remains un answered.

Am I able to do this live?

IE can I add the shelf to the E2624 whilst it is on and serving requests? Will the controler recognise the new disks and be able to add them to a pool?

Hello,

Yes, We can add a new Shelf online. Perform the following steps to hot add a shelf to this system:

1. Power up the disk shelf.
2. Wait for the shelf to fully boot and spin up the drives (~2-3 minutes).
3. Cable the shelf to the storage system.

Controller will discover the new Drives but they will not be added automatically to the Pools/VG.
