Hello,
We have a E-series netapp storage. We want to backup our data with veeam to tape drives. But how can we realize this operation? Netapp can talk to the tape drive over the SAN, but can I connect the tape drive directly to NetApp e serie?

You cannot connect tape drive to the E series.
The ONTAP maximum file limits is lesser than the maximum possible number of files supported by ONTAP for a volume. This video explains the reason why ONTAP has this lower limit on the file count.
