EF & E-Series, SANtricity, and Related Plug-ins
Can you move disks from a E-series system to another E-series system without doing anything to the disk?
See The Solution
If the drive is not part of a Volume Group or Dynamic Disk Pool, you can usually remove the drive from the old array and insert it into the new array without any further action. If the drive is marked a incompatible though after moving it, initialize the drive.https://docs.netapp.com/ess-11/topic/com.netapp.doc.ssm-sam-116/GUID-6C30A4D2-AD57-4D71-9715-4894355D59EC.html
If the drive is part of a Dynamic Disk Pool, remove the drive logically from the DDP first, then physically move the drive to the new array.https://docs.netapp.com/ess-11/topic/com.netapp.doc.ssm-sam-116/GUID-AECC03BE-8E01-481D-9779-DDEBBBBF1FCE.html
If the drive belongs to a Volume Group, you must initialize it after moving it to the new array. Note that you cannot logically remove a drive from a Volume Group so the old array will see the original Volume Group as degraded after the drive is removed.https://docs.netapp.com/ess-11/topic/com.netapp.doc.ssm-sam-116/GUID-6C30A4D2-AD57-4D71-9715-4894355D59EC.html
If the drive is FDE secured, review the following before moving the drive:https://docs.netapp.com/ess-11/topic/com.netapp.doc.ssm-sam-116/GUID-B277664C-EAA7-4942-9395-21DB463281D4.html
