OnCommand Insights (7.3.x) Java Client failed to load with permission error

Hello,

our OS- and Application Management rolled out a new update of OpenJDK (icedtea) and now we can't start the java-client anymore. It seems that the folks increased the level of security, at least the error messages hint's it:

"LaunchException: Fatal: Application Error: Cannot grant permissions to unsigned jars. Application requested security permissions, but jars are not signed. "

Did someone here stumble upon this issue as well?

Any ideas how to solve it are welcome.

Best regards

Ingo

Hello Ingo,

The error message indeed suggests that the security settings are preventing the launch of the application.
You can try changing settings in the java.security file in your OpenJDK folder.

I found this Stackexchange post that outlines how to allow unsigned jar Files:

security - Running unsigned javaws code - Unix & Linux Stack Exchange

Here is a Blogpost that I found online that deals with a similar issue.

Fix icedtea Cannot grant permissions to unsigned jars error - Technicus (jeppson.org)

I hope these posts can help you resolve the issue.

Please keep in mind that OnCommand Insights comes with a bundled OpenJDK version and updating the OpenJDK version manually is not supported. The recommended solution would be to reinstall the previous OpenJDK version.

Hello,

I opted for the simple solution: asked the Desktop Experts to correct whatever setting they had changed 🙂
