Cifs and domain controllers

Hi,

We have 2 DCs (DC1 and DC2), DC1 is the preferred dc in our filer and DC2 is the favored one. The filer is currently connected to DC1, however we need to put this server offline for at least an hour.

If this is the case, will my filer automatically connect to DC2 or do I have to manually connect it to DC2 first before I put DC1 offline?

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

If DC2 is a domain controller for the same domain the filer is a part of, the filer will automatically switch to it once it notes the primary is down.
