Credential Add failed for host (OnTap Select on VMware while adding vCenter cred)

Hi All,

I try to land OnTap Select on VMware using vCenter, but I cannot add a vcenter cerdential. No matter what I try, I keep getting the error "Credential Add failed for host x.x.x.x" and no more info. Not on the CLI, not in the GUI, the only thing I see in the events is "Credential Add failed for host", full stop.

Anyone ever got this to work? And if so, can I use just VMDKs for the backend storage for OnTap Select? The landing zone is vsan, so I cannot give the select instances direct access to my disks. This has go via the hypervisor abstraction layer I suppose .. if not, I can stop right here right now.

Any info welcome!

Best regards,

Ronald Top

Hello @RONALDTOP

Are you using the Deploy Vcenter Plugin or are you using ONTAP Select Deploy? There are functional differences between these.

Configuration using Vcenter:

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-select//concept_vpi_overview.html#packaged-with-deploy

Configuration on vsan:

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-select/concept_stor_vsan_external.html

If you're using ONTAP Select Deploy, I might suggest backing up the Deploy instance and attempting a reinstall.

Hope this helps!
