Encrypt snapvault destination filer

Our risk team have asked about encrypting the WAFL inodes so that if a  shelf of disks with a 14 disk aggregate was removed (ie stolen) the  data would be unusable.  We would need to keep the historic snapvault data however.

Is there a WAFL encrypt, disk software ownership lock or snaplock 'protect' option available for DoT 8?

Thanks

Bren

Hi Bren,

From what I know there is currently no way to encrypt SnapVault target.

I vaguely heard that something may be introduced in future ONTAP versions (don't hold your breath for that though ).

Regards,
Radek
