Failing to add cluster to DFM server 5.2

Hi all,

I have configured clustered ontap simulator with two nodes on one machine and now I am unable to add that cluster to DFM server which is installed in another machine:

where 10.26.128.251 is my cluster's IP.

This is a snapshot from the cluster itself:

I want to note that I have NetApp OnCommand system manager installed in the same machine where I have cluster node VMs, and I successfully added the cluster there:

Any help will be appriciated.

Thanks a lot,

Hasmik

Try this command..

dfm host add [ -N ] [ -U <hostLogin> -P <hostPassword> ]

        [ -A <authProtocol> ] [ -X <privPassword> ]

        { all | <objects> ... | -H <hosting-storage-system> <vfiler> ... }

This is more of a 7 mode approach but should work.

Your DFM can't be multi-purpose, meaning can't server 7-mode and cmode at the same time. You need a separate instance for both

I am seeing this on our DFM server running 5.1

   dfm host list [ -a ] [ -q ] [ <objects> ... ]

    dfm host add [ -N ] [ -U <hostLogin> -P <hostPassword> ]

        [ -A <authProtocol> ] [ -X <privPassword> ]

        { all | <objects> ... | -H <hosting-storage-system> <vfiler> ... }

Not sure why?So I recommended.

Well, when you install oncommand you have to select which one you want,

can't be both.

Right.  And based on a separate previous post I'm wondering if you installed this as a 7-mode(or that server could be a different server, but I wonder).

Anyway, when you type "dfm about", what does the output next to  "Data ONTAP Operating Mode" say?

Here you go

Version                          5.2 (5.2)

Executable Type                  64-bit

Serial Number                    1-50-001913

Edition                          Standard edition of DataFabric Manager server

Data ONTAP Operating Mode        Cluster-Mode

Thanks but my question was directed towards the OP, unless you two are working on the same server.  At any rate, if you can't add the cluster to the DFM server by typing in the cluster management IP, then this is beyond what I know and I'd recommend opening a case with NetApp, though I'm not sure how much support you can get on a simulator.
