Flexgroups for all NAS volumes

What caveats should I consider if I want to default all NAS volumes to FlexGroups?

We have a mixed environment with both CIFS and NFS. FlexGroups seem to have matured over the years, but we’re unsure if migrating everything to FlexGroups is the best approach. They appear to be well-suited for large capacity requirements, high inode counts, and offer better performance balancing across nodes.

Given these factors, can FlexGroups be used as the default for all NAS volumes, or are there specific scenarios where FlexVols would still be preferable?

hello:

If the new volume is changed to flexgroup, you can create a flexgroup volume during creation. The following is the procedure for creating a flexgroup volume.

https://docs.netapp.com/zh-cn/ontap/flexgroup/create-task.html

If an existing volume can be converted to a flexgroup volume, the following article may help you

I wish I could help you

Best regards!
