Is there any setting for a global global guarantee=none so I do not have to specify it every time I create a volume?
Good question... no way that I know of... the default is guaranteed on all new volumes and need "-s none" on the vol create command to have no guarantee.
The ONTAP maximum file limits is lesser than the maximum possible number of files supported by ONTAP for a volume. This video explains the reason why ONTAP has this lower limit on the file count.
