How many snapmirror transfer attempts after a failure

Assuming I have scheduled a snapmirror transfer every 4 hours, and for whatever reasons a transfer gets failed. After that,

1.  how many transfer attempts will be performed for this transfer?

2. Or it will not be started again until next scheduled time?

3. will snapmirror transfers cost a lot of resources on the primary cluster?

Thank you!

Hello,

This KB can have some answers... https://kb.netapp.com/Advice_and_Troubleshooting/Data_Protection_and_Security/SnapMirror/How_to_change_the_number_of_ONTAP_SnapMirror_relationship_upd...

1 - default is 8 retries (ONTAP 8.3 and 9).

2 - It will retry

3 - I would not say it would cost a lost of resources. But this is a complex equation. It depends on how many concurrent transfers, depends on the current load on the primary system (CPU, disk utilization, etc). Short answer no. But depends on other parameters..

Regards,

Pedro
