How to access c$ or etc share without being administrator on a Netapp Filer ?

We have FAS3170 filers, at Dataontap 7.3.4. Recently we found some bugs that requires Ontap to be Upgraded to 8.1.1 7 mode. Unfortunately we dont have Administrator password for these filers.Is there any way we can access the c$ or etc$ share to copy the required files for the upgradation?

You can place files on HTTP server. The "software update" command can directly download files from HTTP server.

One way is to select the option of upgrading using the web server. The prerequisites for that will be as follows:

1. You need to have access to a web server on a network accessible to your appliance.

2. You need to have the IP address of the webserver.

3. You need to have access to the NetApp CLI (can be normal user with admin permissions to upgrade).

While upgrading you can use this command software update http://web_server_ip_address/path/<file name> -f

agreed..software update or software get to copy to /etc/software. You could also run a passwd command and change the administrative user (if unknown or lost...but not if you would lock out others who should have permission )
