How to perform NDMP backup natively from filer when there is an HA pair?

HI,

This question may seems little odd but I need some help here.

There is a NetApp filer operating in 7-Mode and there existing Tape drive that can be connected to filers through FC. However, there is no SAN switch. So my question would be, is it possible to backup content from the partner node using 'dump' command while the tape is being attached to one node of the HA pair?nt

My ultimate goal is to backup content from both nodes using 'dump' command to the available tape drive. (there is no backup software; no SAN switches). How do I achieve this?

Thanks

I am afraid, not. Partner will need to see exactly the same tape device under the same name, that is configured in backup software. The only way (at least, known to me) is to use 3way backup via remote NDMP tape server.
