Is OSSV and DFM secure?

I'm looking into using OSSV to backup some of our file shares on windows servers at remote sites to a filer at our datacenter.  Is the communciaiton between DFM and the Primary\Secondary storage systems secure?  I'm worried about credentials being sent in the clear and the protection of the data being transfered?

I forgot to mention that I would also be using Protection Manager.
