Hi,
I have couple of external arrays connected to NetApp V-series, the serial number of all disks that derive storage from external array appear as a hexdecimal string of length 32.
Ex: 123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVW
But for some disks this serial number is reported as string of length 12, not is HEX format but in a different format looks like ASCII as I see '$' and other special characters appear in disk serial.
Ex: 123456$AB000
Why is this difference in disk serial numbers?. Is there a uniform format for disk serials that derive storage from external array?.
Please let me know your thoughts/opinions/suggestions.
