Migrating a traditional vol over to a flex vol from one NetApp to another

Hello,

I am in the middle of doing a NetApp upgrade and I need to migrate volumes from their old system to the new one and I have hit a wall, the caveat here is they do not want these mirrors running during production/backup window so I have created and scheduled snapmirror to run on Satruday for their flex vols but they have an existing volume that is a traditional so the volume can't be snapmirrored,  I need to know the best way to go about this preserving snapshots and if this can be scheduled to run off hours.

Thanks,

Bob

The only way I can think of is to use QSM. Start with oldest snapshot, create snapshot on destination, update using next oldest snapshot, create snapshot on destination etc.

Yes, you can QSM non-tree data also. When specifying non-qtree data (ie: all data that's in a volume that isn't in a qtree), use the below in your snapmirror syntax. Also, pre-create a qtree on the destination for all this data to go into.

/vol/-

The hyphen captures all non-qtree data.

This way, it's just a straight snapmirror, don't have to do rolling changes.
