NetApp OVM Plugin cannot discover NetApp FAS8020 8.2.1 7-mode storage controllers

Can anyone help here? 

This what we keep getting.  It is an F/C environment.  The Plugin discovers the (2) OVM Servers just fine.  We made sure the zoning is correct and SANLUN shows the dummy LUNs we created for zoning purposes.  I folllowed the

March 2014 | TR-3712 and now we are at a stand still. NGS does not support the OVM plugin BUT they do state the Plugin will work.

Any help is GREATLY apprecitated.

Hello,

can you check /var/log/ovs-agent.log file from OVM server? I hope your storage has a 'snaprestore' license, which is not expired. if it's licensed and you not able to find the answer from ovs-agent.log. please send me the output of 'license' from your storage controller and /var/log/ovs-agent.log.

I'm having the same problem. I don't have a 'snaprestore' license. Is that the problem ?

Hello Ibraima,

it's not the  broblem, if you don't have the snaprestore you can not do the snaprestore functionality, but you can continue to use the plugin.

what is your ONTAP version and storage mode (7mode or storage virtual machine)?

In 8.2.1, licence query api is deprecated and the new API is introduced. if you are using 8.2.1 - 7mode, Please wait for a 1-2 weeks, the new patch version will be uploaded. if you are not using 8.2.1 - 7mode, you don't have any issue to deploy the plugin.

Ibraima,  as a work around while the patch is being finished -- I am using the Oracle Generic Plug-in.  It does not have all the functionality but at least you will not be at a stand still if you are already in production

The OVM patch version is released to fix Ontap 8.2.1 in 7 Mode and it's tested in one customer environment.
