NetApp audit report on files/folders structure & permissions, including users & groups

Hello, 

Could anyone help suggest what is the best tool to use in order to pull an audit report that shows the following info:

-  files,

- folders, 

- permissions,

- which user have access to what,

- which groups each user belong to.

I am new to this environment that comprises 5 different NetApp clusters and management would like to have an idea of the current permissions structure in NetApp.  The info will then be used to restructure the groups and permissions.

If possible, include a sample result generated by the tool.

Your best option, if you have a little time and can deploy a couple of VMs in your infrastructure, is to use NetApp Classification. It is offered at no charge for up to 500 TB of NAS storage. Thanks for the suggestion but why should I deploy a couple of VMs in my infrastructure?

It appears to be a solution easier to use than the NetApp ONTAP PowerShell Toolkit.  

Please explain.

NetApp natively supports auditing, you can enable the auditing on SVM, give the log destination ideally on a different small volume, then go to cifs share or folder  properties on window host, to define the auditing.

Eventviewer can be used to review the auditing logs.
