ONTAP Edge -> FAS required?

I have heard that ONTAP Edge needs an active SnapVault relationship with a FAS/V Series, or it will shutdown eventually.

Is this true? Or can we use ONTAP Edge as standalone? (without SnapVault)

Hi,

ONTAP Edge needs an active SnapVault-Relationship, otherwise it shuts down after 24 (?) hours...

Only Edge-T will continue to operate without active relationships.

I haven't found any official documents on that, I think..

What if it has a SnapVault relationship with a Simulator? Would that work?

Simulator should work since there is no way to determine the controller-type of the remote storage of a snapvault relationship

One final thing tough, I have the evaluation version of ONTAP-Edge running for 3 days and 9 hours now, it has not yet shutdown...

Is this expected?
