Hey,

I’m trying to deploy ontap select 9.8 with evaluation license, 2-node small cluster for testing.

I’m using external storage, vmfs luns from a physical ontap appliance.

the deploy fails with the error “failed to obtain http lease for vmdk upload” and I could not find anything on the internet for that.

anyone familiar with issue?

btw vcenter and esx hosts are 6.5, I don’t remember the exact build number.

thanks in advance,

Hi,

I guess that ESXi version is important.

If 6.5 you should use one of these:

  • 6.5 U2 (build 8294253 or greater)

Did you check that?

Regards,

Pedro

Hey, I checked the version and it’s fine.

the ESXi host is 6.5 build 13004031.

Do you have another idea perhaps?

Sorry, I don't. If this is for a PoC or something like that, maybe your NetApp representative could check internally for this situation.

I'd open a case. Something seems wrong with the deployment.

Hello @elic_co,

The error "Failed to obtain HTTP lease for vmdk upload" can occur if the user account does not have Administrative privileges; in addition, the host needs to be added using the vCenter Administrative account.

Here is reference documentation detailing other requirements for deploying ONTAP Select:

Planning to use the Deploy vCenter plug-in
