Question regarding volume SnapMirror usage form

Hi all,

I was wondering about the way volume SnapMirror users set up their relationships.

We are in the process of revamping our WFA VSM/QSM creation commands and would like to cater
to the various usage forma.

1) What is more commonly used when defining the SM relationship: host IPs or Host names?

2) When using Hostnames - Do you use fully qualified names or short hostnames?

3) How do you resolve the host address - DNS or host files?

And another question, less related to our survey here 🙂

4) When SM is working with a dedicated interface - Is it mandatory to add "multi" notation to the snapmirror.conf?

Best regards,

Yaron Haimsohn

name, short, both (prefer host), no

Try creating a poll, you'll find the results easier to view.

Hi Yaron,

     Based on my experience.

1) What is more commonly used when defining the SM relationship: host IPs or Host names?

Host Name as IP keeps changing.

2) When using Hostnames - Do you use fully qualified names or short hostnames?

Short names.

3) How do you resolve the host address - DNS or host files?

DNS

And another question, less related to our survey here 🙂

4) When SM is working with a dedicated interface - Is it mandatory to add "multi" notation to the snapmirror.conf?

It can even be failover too.
