Hello guys,
using DOT 7.3.3
Can I resize raid group from 11 to 10 disks?
reason:
i m' adding some disks to sata shelf
and i would like to create equal size aggr on each head...
Solved! See The Solution
Grazie mille per il aiuto
You could change the raid type of the aggregate from raid_dp to raid_4 and get back 1 disk (it will be spared), pay attention to te raid_size limitation of the raid4.
unfortunately you cant remove a disk from an aggregate once is created, you'll have to destroy it and create it from scratch.
pff
2 disks are zeroing i have to wait ...
1 is pending
i will create 1 aggr of 12 disk on first head
1 aggr of 8 disk on 2 nd head
i was looking to create 10 disk for each one with 2 spares...
Are you creating two empty aggregates in this moment or have you already got a 12disk aggregate with some data in head1?
if all the 20 disks are spared right now you could reassign 1-2 disk from head1 to head2, that can be done only with unused\spare disk (not partecipating in any aggregate)
I had 1 aggr having 8 disks already used 6 data + 2 spares
inspite of adding 2 disks i added 3
result i will have 11 data + 2 spares
remaining will be 11 disks
==> so i will add one other disk to the expanded aggr to have 12 disks + 2 spares
and on the other head 6 data + 2 spares
is it also possible to create a big aggr with 2 raid group of 11 disks 22 data + 2 spares
but i think it is not a god idea for 2 TB disks
yes it is possible but keep in mind that the head 2 of the filer must own at least 3 disks for hosting the root volume (1data+1parity+1spare in raid4).
however, you can freely move spare disk from one head to the other.
