Set a snapshot to not expire

My netapp admin is in Disney World this week....

I have snapshots scheduled for a volume. I keep the most recent 7 days back and then 4 weekly snapshots beyond that.

I have been asked by a data owner to hold last night's snapshot indefinitely. I have a snapshot from last night that has no dependencies. Is there a way to flag a particular snapshot to not expire?

thanks very much for the help.

You can rename the snapshot to keep the system from cleaning it up. As long as you remove the increment notation at the end the scheduler will leave it alone. Ex: You want to keep nightly.1. Rename nightly.1 to nightly.hold or anything without a number at the end.

Here's a KB article that walks you through it: https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=1010524
