Storage efficiency lost on destionation location

Hi there,

if there is replication from AFF system to FAS (NL-SAS), which storage efficiency will be lost on the destination? In the documentation there is written (https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/data-protection/manage-storage-efficiency-task.html

SnapMirror preserves storage efficiency on the source and destination volumes, with one exception, when postprocess data compression is enabled on the destination. In that case, all storage efficiency is lost on the destination. To correct this issue, you need to disable postprocess compression on the destination, update the relationship manually, and re-enable storage efficiency.

Is it valid for both FAS to FAS and AFF to FAS replication?

Yes if postprocess data compression is enabled on the destination. You will need to follow the recommended steps in able to preserve compression or any other  storage efficiency.

Thanks

Hi @hmoubara, thanks for the input.

Then, I think, compression is lost on the SnapMirror destination, isnt it?

Hello Jerry,

The following KB article should help explain SnapMirror storage efficiency behaviors for various configurations, including AFF systems:
