hi Does SVMDR replicate the configuration of On-Box DNS (load balancing) or must it be done manually like the schedules? Will this option work without remapping? Also, if there is link for that

Hi All
Probably a basic question but I just wanted to get this clarified by others.
We use 7-mode and all our volumes are thin provisioned flex vols. All LUNs are thin provisioned as well and these are presented to VMware as datastores. We use deduplication as well.
My question is if we have a datastore running low, we would expand the flexvol and also resize the LUN, but my question is do we need to expand the flexvol? some of the volumes we are realising some subsantial savings and so the flexvol can have tons of available space whereas the lun could be running near capacity.
We use block level storage via FC so I am aware already that we need to run space savings to commands to reclaim the free space on a LUN, which we do often but I just had this question and was interested how others tackle this.
Many Thanks
Ranj

after mounting a CIFS share on a linux system (rhel8, fully patched) i sometimes get: CIFS: VFS: sign fail cmd 0x8 message id 0x107ebf CIFS: VFS: \\FILER\SHARE SMB signature verification returned error = -13 the mount seems to work, but i dont know if this is true for every access. there exists an KB article at https://kb.netapp.com/on-prem/ontap/da/NAS/NAS-KBs/SAMBA_Client_returns_SMB_signature_verification_error where i'm advised to use nfs instead. seriously? CIFS and NFS are NOT interchangeable. eg. complex permission sets dont translate from one to another. there seems to be an old KB at https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=000020670 where suse recommended to upgrade from 9.5.P13 to ontap 9.5P14 maybe just a similar error, and not the same. hopefully not the same 🙂 I dont have any clue which bug/feature was fixed in 9.5.P14
