hello netapp community,

i´ve to migrate some TB from our old metro cluster with 32bit aggregates to the new system with 64bit aggregates.

old: FAS3050 with netapp release7.3.4P4

new: FAS6210 with netapp release8.0.2

i thought the best way would be to do snapmirror but netapp doesn´t support snapmirror from 32 to 64bit aggregates - right?

the only mirgration option i found is a long downtime and ndmpcopy ……..

maybe you know a better way and can tell me some tricks to handle this situation.

kind regards

roland

btw: have the complete license bundle.

hi there,

please use the QTREE SnapMirror feature, it allows you, just like volume snapmirror, to frequently update the data. NDMP only allows 2 updates which can be nasty if anything goes wrong during a migration and you want to retry.

Regards,

Thomas

I agree, these are your only options: NDMPcopy and Qtree snapmirror. Please notice that you can't migrate snapshots with both options!
