Aggregate free space alerting

Hi All,

When referring to the /etc/messages on 7-mode, at which point does the system log console messages about aggregate space?

An aggregate has reached 95% utlized and no messages were displayed in either the console or messages file.

We noticed  a console messages was generated for a volume reaching 98%.

I know DFM would be used to manage capacity, however this is not in place.

Hi

For historical reasons it's seems that "monitor.volume.nearlyFull" and "monitor.volume.Full "ems events are used also for aggregate objects. should be on 95% for nearly and 98% for full

see ontap 9 article here.

https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1196906/html/GUID-20114057-1848-45BE-9BE1-6B2191E74A8B.html

However, the event is classified as "debug"

https://mysupport.netapp.com/eservice/ems?emsAction=details&eventId=348142&software=ontap&emsId=monitor.volume.nearlyFull&emsversion=0

And Debug is the lowest level of messages

https://mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/ems/systrans_sev_levels.htm

And by default - it's not logged to the /etc/messages as it's set to only capture info and above level of messages

https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1368862/html/GUID-D0792069-6118-4E11-B7C4-3DA7C156A0BF.html

You can change the settings on the last file so it will put an event in the messages file

Hope that helpful.
