Hello, Hope you are having a good start on a new year.

The image above is an backplane of a FAS8300.

I thought that the purpose of the cluster network port is for forming a cluster, perform  takeover or giveback operations, and communicate between nodes for data serving.

If my understanding is right about the cluster network port interconnect, what does the HA interconnect do?

Hello

The HA ports provide the connexion between, the 2 NODES in the HA Pair, yhe HA Pair can do Takeover, Giveback, the redondancy for the data service. Thoses ports are only connected to the tow node of HA pair

The NVRAM mirroring use this ports

The Cluster ports, give the possibilities to have a cluster more than 2 nodes and move SVM, volume or use Flexgroup for exemple. They can made a cluster of 24 nodes if you need.
