I have received a alert about HDD failed, I ordered parts and replacement. But this time, when I input the new HDD to shelf, system still showing disk failed.

Disk 0.10 also missing in list for disk show, I tried to update disk firmware and qual. But qual was not successful for update, always show /etc/qual_devices_v3: No such file or directory

Hi @Terry-Lui

Sorry to hear your attempt to install the DQP did not work.

I would suggest contacting support to have your disk issue investigated further. Our team can still look into hardware issues despite you running out of date ONTAP version.

Please keep in mind that our team will likely advise that you need to update your ONTAP version, as ONTAP 9.4 is out of support - https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/info/version-support , I suggest planning for an ONTAP upgrade soon. If your system is sending ASUP data back to NetApp, then you can leverage the Upgrade Advisor feature within our AIQ Digital Advisor tool (https://activeiq.netapp.com).

Hi @Terry-Lui

This error message means that you do not have the DQP package installed. There is a known bug for some ONTAP versions where under certain circumstances the DQP package can be removed/deleted.

Simply move onto the next steps documented process for downloading and installing the DQP package. As per https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/info/firmware/disk-qual

Once that is done you can try removing the drive, waiting a few mins, and re-inserting to see if its correctly handled by the ONTAP system.

If you hit further issues, suggest contacting our support team to help you.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for your reply.

I just followed step to download and install the DQP, it was the same output.

Upgrading your ONTAP version would also be highly recommended. 9.4 is no longer supported.

If the issue persists after correcting the DQP and reseating the drive, this may be an issue with the bay in the chassis. If this is the case, as already mentioned, please contact NetApp support for further assistance with this.

Hi aladd, thanks for your recommendation. I tried to update disk firmware and qual. But qual was not successful for update, always show /etc/qual_devices_v3: No such file or directory.
