My question is 2-fold......we want to use fiber cabling and SFPs to run 10 gig ethernet farther than twinax can reach for data traffic.  What type of SFPs and Fiber cabling are required for this?

We have several Avago 10gsfp+swl that we think might work for this use case, but they are not inserted yet.  After insertion what is the best way to view specific part details?  'sysconfig -v' only displays so much:

slot 0: 1G/10G Ethernet Controller CNA EP 8324

(Multiple Dual-port, QLogic CNA 8324(8362) rev. 2)

e0e MAC Address:    xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (auto-10g_twinax-fd-up)

e0f MAC Address:   xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (auto-unknown-cfg_down) **fiber SFP will be inserted here

e0g MAC Address:   xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (auto-10g_twinax-fd-up)

e0h MAC Address:   xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (auto-unknown-cfg_down)  **fiber SFP will be inserted here

Device Type:        EP8324N

NIC Firmware rev:   5.4.62.0

I will be looking for SFP specifics like is displayed below for the SAS port:

slot 0: SAS Host Adapter 0a (PMC-Sierra PM8001 rev. C, SAS, <UP>)

Firmware rev:       01.12.09.00

Base WWN:           5:00a098:003849f:d0

Phy State:          [0] Enabled, 6.0 Gb/s

                    [1] Enabled, 6.0 Gb/s

                    [2] Enabled, 6.0 Gb/s

                    [3] Enabled, 6.0 Gb/s

QSFP Vendor:        Molex Inc.

QSFP Part Number:   112-00256+A0

QSFP Type:          Passive Copper 0.5m ID:00

QSFP Serial Number: 600720145

Thanks!  -Ben

Hi there!

sysconfig -a will show SFP details once inserted.

Some details athttps://kb.netapp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1000588/loc/en_US#__highlight - but full compatibility is outlined in our Hardware Universe - Cables - Data Cables - Cable lengths (unclick select all, select transceiver)

We generally specify exact model numbers, which might include a -NA suffix (NetApp), so any obtained from a secondary source might not work.

Hope this helps!
