IOPS for SATA/SAS/FC disks

Can anyone tell me what's NetApps stated performance of IOPS on SATA/SAS and FC disks?

After a general idea as realise any answer can be driven by different factors (i.e head type, aggregate setup, application type etc)

I don't know the stated values. From my experience

sata 70-80 iops

scsi

10k FC/sas  110-120 iops

15k FC/sas 150-160 iops

From my experience with Netapp tech support, the older SATA drives would experience a "diminished state of return" above 40 IOPS.  This was a couple of years ago so it might be different now.

FC/SATA 150-300.

Hi,

I have some rule of thumbs IOPS numbers for SATA and FC disks:

SATA     7200rpm          80 IOPS/sec

FC         15k rpm          180 IOPS/sec

Hi Brendon

Have you got the link you referenced here?  We're really struggling with our iops atm (as I'm sure you already know!), so anything that might help out is welcome.

Cheers

Duncan

The number of IOPS will be dependant on the required latencies, regardless of disk types. That said, the chart above gives good estimate.

Thanks,

Wei
