mis alignment of LUN

Hi,

I run MS Hyper-V 2012-R2 with Win208-R2 and WIn2012-R2  and RH Linux 6. Virtual machines.

When i check the statuf of my LUNS, i see misalignements. See attachment.

What can be the cause of this. The fact that i choose Windows2008 or later at LUN creation and not Hyper-V as type of LUN ?

Best regards,

Johan

hi

i can't see the attachment or know where the output form. but keep in mind that the alert is likely based on heuristic. if the LUN is not too active it can average wrongly,

you better look yourself on the read/write align histo in:

7-mode commands:

priv set advanced

stats start lun

wait 2-3 min

stats show lun

cdot commands:

set a

dv

statistics start -object lun

wait few min and get the sample id from the command above for the one below

statistics show -sample-id sample_x -object lun -counter *align*

the yper_v type seems to be the correct one. but you could have formatted the drive in the wrong way . consult the following KB for more details: https://kb.netapp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1030497

if you still see significant misalligemnt. create new LUNs using snapdrive. and live storage migrate the VM files to it.
