Hello,
i have FAS 6130 with 1 shelf SAS connected. (1aggr)
i want to add 1 more shelf, but SATA disks (12 SATA disks)
the setps are:
1 - connect the new shelf to the controller with the SAA cable
2 - assign the new disks to the conroller, how? (with disk assign command, any aother way?)
3 - add the new assigned disks to new aggr with oncommand system manager RAID type: RAID-DP, right?
1 spare disk.
comment?
thx!

We prefer 2 spare disks for maintenance garage. That way disks rapid raid recover and failed drives can be tested to see if they can go back in the spare pool

Agreed. With only 12 disks. I missed that in the original post reading on my phone.

It's horses for courses - one hot-spare means more capacity to use; two hot-spares enable drive maintenance, which can investigate a 'dodgy' disk in the background & copy data across before it fails, rather than do a fully-blown RAID rebuild.
