Changes to Python Client Library (PCL) Release Strategy

Dear Community Members,

This is to inform you about an important change concerning the release strategy for the Python Client Library (netapp_ontap). Starting from version 9.14.1, the PCL packages will be available as per the following:

        1. Single PCL Release per ONTAP release cycle

Each ONTAP release will now offer only one release of the Python Client Library.

        2. Discontinuation of Separate RC and GA Releases:

Separate Release Candidate (RC) and General Availability (GA) releases for the library will no longer be provided. Instead, the release package will be designated as 9.14.1.0, available concurrently at the time of ONTAP RC release.

Reasons for the Change

The decision to consolidate to a single package per ONTAP release is based on the adoption patterns observed over the last few releases. This change aims to deliver a more robust package slightly earlier, aligning with the ONTAP RC release, to better meet user needs.

Continued Support and Issue Resolution

Any issues will continue to be addressed and minor versions will be released as necessary to ensure the library remains reliable and current.

Your ongoing support is highly valued. Thank you for being an integral part of this community!

Best regards,

NetApp PCL Team
