I need to patch my 9.12.1 simulator to get around the CIFS/Windows authentication issue (https://kb.netapp.com/Support_Bulletins/Customer_Bulletins/SU530#) I've managed to get hold of the P7 patch, and when I first tried to upload it to the sim via the GUI (Cluster->overview->: More->Update ONTAP) I got an error message telling me there wasn't enough space. I followed the instructions here: https://kb.netapp.com/onprem/ontap/dm/System_Manager/System_Manager_fails_to_upload_ONTAP_image_due_to_insufficient_space and now the upload directory has 2.9GB free, which should be ample (the P7 patch is only 2.3GB). However, now when I try to upload the patch, the cluster just unceremoniously reboots. In the event log all I can see is mention of a coredump being saved, but nothing about what caused it. I have expanded the RAM to 16GB, no difference.

Hello Today I picked up a used Netapp FAS270. I know it is an older out of support unit but it functions and wass recently removed from a live environment. It was completely wiped so I have no access to it at the moment. My plan was to use this tied to a couple of used servers to learn network setup infrastructure. Since the company I currently work for supplied the servers and uses Netapp Equipment i figured this would be a good move since it is close to what my work uses so learning it would have advantages. Problem is I cannot obtain the licences and OnTap software to set up the unit. Is it possible to get evaluation licences or something for personal use or the like? Otherwise its just a paperweight...aVERY heavy paperweight.

We downloaded the latest version of the ontap simulator (9.13.1) and deployed the .ova on our vmware esx-cluster. No matter what we're doing with the new VM, after starting the first time and finishing the initial setup, every time the VM has to be rebooted for any reason, the bsd doesn't boot anymore. That happens in any case. Even if the VM is forced to restart after the initial setup, without doing anything with it. We also tried to finalize the normal cluster-setup. All is working fine until the restart. We also tried it with more RAM (8GB, 16GB) but nothing changes the result, VM always stops at the same point after restart.
