Anyone know how dedup works with Vvols?

HI,

I am getting familiar with Vvols, but had a question for deduplication functionality using a virtual volume. 

Since Netapp dedups at the volume level. I was wondering if the deduplication happens at the big volume container level instead of at the virtual volume level with VMs. I'm guessing this is how it functions; I just want to confirm this for my clarification. I have not been able to find this being answered in a place yet.

Hello @silverwulf,

Assuming you mean ONTAP, deduplication still applies at the FlexVol level, not the VVOL level.  SolidFire has global deduplication.
