MTU Recommendations

Are there any recommendations around MTU settings with VMWare on NFS.  I have hunted around the whitepapers on behalf of a Partner but haven't come across anything useful so far.

It's rather discussion than recommendation, but MTU=9000 seems to be the magic setting.
