Latest Virtual Storage Console for VMware vSphere only supports up to vSphere 6.7
For a while now VMWare went to vSphere version 7. What is the ETA for a new version of Virtual Storage Console for VMware vSphere and a NetApp NFS Plug-in for VMware VAAI that supports vSphere 7 ?
In a demo pool I implemented a virtual storage console on a vSphere 7. The VASA ( NetApp NFS Plug-in for VMware VAAI 1.1.2) provider is installed on the ESXi hosts but showing as not being capable of hardware acceleration in the vSphere 7 client. The option to Rapid clone is not available. The virtual storage console is available and shows information inside the vSphere 7 client but there isn't much to do. It lost alot of functionality compared to vSphere 6.7 environment.

Is there an upgrade and or migration path for this? I couldn't find anything on support site yet. On the download page there an "upgrade.iso" and a OVA that I can deploy. Not sure if the .iso is to do the upgrade or not. I'm also using SnapCenter 4.6 so I want to make sure I capture configs before moving to ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere 9.10. I'm upgrading vCenter to 7.0 and ESXi to 7.0u2 or u3 soon and ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere 9.10 supports all of these. I'm going to deploy SRM 8.5 I want to take advantage of SRA as well. Any help would be really helpful.

Hello! I have encountered with the "Failed to sync data on replica devices. SRA command 'syncOnce' failed. Unknown error. Check SRM log files for verification of errors" during a failover test using array based replication. Checking SRA logs from DR, I see that the sync command is successfully invoked and a Task ID is provided to SRM. The issue in on the second poll on the task (SRM asking if the task is done), that is when the error happens. The nicest thing about vVols in our environment was its native snapshots. You could pile up a bunch of snapshots if you were so inclined without worry. Stability and performance were not impacted while running with snapshots and deleting any number/size of snapshots on a VM took only a few seconds. But with NetApp's VAAI 2.0, VMware 7.0U2, and one entry in a VM's Configuration Parameters, we now have those same native snapshots. What's more, the improved VAAI works a lot better than vVols ever did with Citrix's Machine Creation Services. I understand vVols have other advantages that we don't use in our environment right now. If we ever flip back to LUNs, we may need to revisit vVols, but with the new VAAI, I may decommission vVols in our environment if only for the sake of simplicity. Don't forget to add a line to your VMs' configurations to take advantage of native snapshots: snapshot.alwaysAllowNative True
