OnTAP Tools SSH

I recently switched from OnTAP Tools 9.x to 10.x. It is working fine, but noticed I couldn't SSH into the system like I could with 9.x. I've engaged with our network team to troubleshoot but it's looking like this might be by design due to some things I'm seeing, although I've not seen it documented anywhere by NetApp. Does anyone know if SSH is off by default in 10.x, and if so, how to re-enable?

That is correct. In 10.X, the system was further locked down by removing the ability for maint to log in via SSH.

I should note there is apparently a KB that addresses it but I have no rights to access it for some reason.

I'm a little late to the party, but can you try this one instead, @TMADOCTHOMAS : https://kb.netapp.com/data-mgmt/OTV/VSC_Kbs/OTV__How_to_access_the_diagnostics_shell

The one you linked to was marked as a duplicate, so it was removed from open access.

Just noticed the link appears to be about the diagnostic shell, not logging in as maint.

Based on one thing I read, I'm starting to think VASA has to be turned on for SSH to work for the VM as a whole. I think I turned it on previously even though we didn't use it, possibly for this reason. Anyone have insight?

You must have diagnostic shell enabled through vm console first and then you can ssh in.

Thanks @Sanaman , however all that does is give me access to login as diag via SSH to a prompt, which opens the shell interface. I can't login normally via the maint account over SSH like I used to be able to in 9.x. After I enter the password, the Putty session just closes.

Thanks. As a point of feedback, having that change documented in Release Notes would have saved a lot of time :).

That is 100% fair feedback, and I appreciate it.
