I tried: reallocate measure -vserver xxxx -path /vol/vol1 -once true It ran but I don't have any information the volume. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I did this in 7mode to see if the volume need reallocate run on it, the information was in the messages log.

We have data centers around the world so we have different time zones, it would help if we configure it they way it is in 7DOT, for example: 7CODT hourly.0 in cDOT it is hourly.2013-11-15_0401

You may want to consider re-entering this again, subject line has IPOs instead IOPS. You also have NETAPP INTAP GUI, I assume you meant NetApp Ontap GUI. I don't know which GUI you are referring and are you running 7mode or cDOT?

I believe the recommended setup is to have a dedicated port for cluster management such as e0a and e0M for node management, these should ports should NOT be on a VLAN.We have these on the same IP segment but NetApp recommends they be on the separate IP segments.

In 7mode I can do a show mount on each controller to see all exports. This is not working in cDOT/cmode. I don't recall this being documented.

FYI, from NetApp support: “SnapMirror relationships, except load-sharing relationships, which are created between two volumes which are both on a storage system running Data ONTAP version 8.2 and later have the "Relationship Capability" field set to "8.2 and above".” “Load-sharing relationships are created with the "Relationship Capability" field set to "Pre 8.2".”

We created new destination volumes, setup new mirrors again and we are seeing "Pre 8.2". We setup a snapmirror policy. When we try to use -policy option in snapmirror create we get an error when -type LS is used. We also noticed the lag time is not updating (along with the new fields added in 8.2 for snapmirror). If use -type DP in snapmirror create we can use the -policy option. We upgrade from 8.1.2P4 to 8.2P2. To check this: snapmirror show -vserver xxxx -fields relationship-capability,lag

To backup the configuration system configuration backup settings modify -destination ftp://10.0.0.1 -username anonymous Just keep in mind that Ontap will continue to upload files, you will need to delete them or it will fill the destination. By default Ontap copies the configuration to each node, the only reason to set it the another place is for a total disaster of the cluster.

Once you set the language for a vserver I don't believe it can be changed. In 8.2 you can create volumes with different languages. Once volume language is set the destination volume for snapmirror must be the same.

Thanks, I tried that: Ndmpcopy: xx.xx.xx.xx: Log: DATA: Backup terminated: Backup of non-local Volume '/vserver_name/cdot_volname/qtree01' not supported (for /vservername/cdot_volname/qtree01) I believe that NDMP is supported as a migration tool to copy data from 7DOT. Is it supported to go the other direction? Should I do the ndmpcopy from the cDOT system? I will try t.

The dedupe will run as longs as takes, it depends on how much was changed and is duplicated. You can set the duration so that it will stop the dedupe if it runs too long.

The manuals I read said to issue the ndmpcopy command on the 7DOT filer. The command: ndmpcopy -d –sa ndmpusr1:somepass –st text –da ndmpusr2:sompass –dt text xx.xx.xx.xx:/codt_volname/qtree01 xx.xx.xx.xx:/vol/7dot_volname/qtree01 The results Ndmpcopy: Starting copy [ 26 ] ... When I login as diag I can see the node auditlogs but not the cluster. For example if I do node run -node xxx -command sysconfig, I see that in the log, if I do a snapmirror show command on the cluster management interface I can't find it.

Yes, you can setup a schedule. In 7DOT/7mode you could only run them on the hour and the limit was 8 concurrent. You can create new schedule or use existing ones. We setup a bunch of them, every two minutes for a few hours. Most run in a few seconds, we have been this in 7mode for 2 years, 400 volumes, it has saved us about 252TB. We only run this on volumes that don't contain DB, all or NFS. To create a new efficiently policy: volume efficiency policy create -vserver xxxx -schedule xxxx (you can -duration if you want it stop if it's been running too long). We have it working in cDOT for a new months on 8.1 no problems so far.

What about the volume language on the source volume? Currently we don't set the volume language on the 7mode filers. Do we have to set the language to match the vserver setting? I believe that 8.2 allows us to create volumes with different languages which we could not do in 8.1 of cDOT.
