Please could you explain what raid.timeout option is and what I need to do? Is it only needed when you do not have HS disks?

So there is no special config required in order to not assign a HS - You simply just use all disks for the aggr ??

I thought it was a requirment to have at least one HS per controller? How is this configured? Will the system not complain? Also, can you point me in the direction of the threads re this, I can't seem to find much on my senario. Regards

Oh! So what is the best way to configure this so as to lose as little disk as possible? Two RG of 5 disks using Raid4 (4 data and 1 parity) - One hot spare per node ? Also, in the cold senario you described what would be the process to swap the cold controller for a failed active controller?

With a FAS 2020HA with 12 2TB drives is this a valid config: 1 Spare 1 RG = 11 disks, 2 parity and 9 data All assigned to one node, the other acting purely for failover. I do not want to lose 6 disks by having a RG per node. Thanks

I am looking into consolidating some windows file servers onto a FAS for a customer using cifs. We were looking to include snaprestore to allow for volume / file restores. Am I correct in thinking snaprestore is all I need to include for this functionality or do I need to include anything else? If so what will this give me? Lastly, anything else I need to consider and best practices etc?

The FAS is not joined to the domain, is it worth joining if I will not be using cifs for data storage??? - Also, despite what the guide says, do you think joining the domain will allow cifs access to /etc (without license)? I am looking to edit snapmirror.allow, however I would like to know how to edit all files (easly) for the future.....

Hi Radek This is what I thought originally, however it does not seem to work "No network provider accepted the given network path" - I have checked the machine is allowed admin access. I noticed on page 40 of the DOT 8.0 7-Mode Admin Guide that it states you need a CIFS license for this type of admin access???? Regards

I have created a none space guaranteed SAN volume with system manager, when I try to edit the volume and set the fractional reserve to 0% I receive an error stating could not set FR = 0%????

I have the simulator up and running on ESX 4.1 - I have installed the CF license, howerver when I run setup I am not asked if I would like to configure as a cluster? If I run cf status I see see the following message ---- cluster monitor not initialized ----

Ok, I am sold on the VSC (I will do some reading).. One vCentre and no, we will not be backing up at the DR site, however we will want to do DR tests (I believe flexclone is sufficient for this ?)
