Are there any way to list all hosts currently NFS mouting on a volume? I can find what hosts are able to by check /etc/exports, but what if I only want to show those currently mounting this volume/qtree ? Thanks!

As I understand -k is to specify max. bandwidth that this snapmirror session can reach. However, I while I don't want to excessively use too much and then has impact on the other application, I don't put a limit on it's use meanwhile the network has quite some available bandwidth. So, my question is, how do I know what is current available network bandwidth? should this value only be told by networking team? what is appropriate throttle size I should set, or should it be told by networking team as well? Also, assuming the snapmirror session and along with other apps are occupying the full capacity of the bandwidth, then at this moment, one more application wants to join as well, then would he have to wait until there is some freed up bandwidth, or the others would give up some bandwidth for him to join? Thanks,

It sounds a lot of work, because a share could have associated multiple groups/permissions, so, I have to manually create each one of them on the destination. Am I understanding this correctly? shares are exports information and stored in /vol0, then is there any way, I can import the information on the destination? I guess, this issue would happen as well if I use VSM. Not mention that I have lots of qtress and then corresponding shares. Thank you very much for your quick message!

After I successfully replicate the qtree over, in order to set up the corresponding share to the qtree on the destination, then do I have to manually create the share by using "cifs share -add sharename /vol/vol1/qtree"? Is this a normal way to replicate the qtree and then the share? I mean, is there any way not to manually create the share, and just replicate qtree along with the share in one-shot, without manually create the share?

I wanted to snapmirror a share (corresponding a qtree, so I can use QSM), after it gets successfully replicated over, are there anyways to keep share information without manually create them on the destination. Otherwise there will be a lot of manual work to do after the replication. Thanks!

Thanks, your graph answers my question. One more question, isn't true that only accounts within local admin group can get into System Manager?

I can remove it by using the command "cifs access -delete share_name "everyone". But, can I achieve the same from System Manager? Thanks!

Hi Ada, You correctly pinpointed the issue here. I am very curious on why that backup IP is picked up by DFM. This is rarely used IP. I can not think of any situation it could be used on DFM server. Any guess? Thank you!

I probably did not make myself clear. I can not ping filers from the server by using discovered IP that WFA is installed. this IP is for the backup on the filer, and I don't want to use it for WFA/DFM. Is there any way to ask DFM to discover another IP? the primary /MANAGEMENT IP on the filer can be pinged by both WFA server and DFM server. Looking forward to hear you further. Thanks!

We have some qtrees with unix security and the other with ntfs. Based on IP address the error indicated, I know that qtrees from that host are all with ntfs. So, to answer your question, that qtree is with ntfs security. So, my question is, what Window user and/or which file he is accessing has caused the error? Also when I do "cifs sessions", I can see most of Window ID's are translated to pcuser. Which "option" has defined this setting? Thank you!

Some files owned by a Window ID are translated to this Unix ID 20041 on the filer? How could I find these files or Window ID owning these files? Is that true when a file on CIFS shares gets accessed, the user who is accessing the file, his Window ID will be translated to an Unix ID on NetApp filer?

No, there are no firewalls anywhere in this infrastructure. The IP discovered by DFM/WFA is backup vlan, and not suitable in this application, as well as not reachable from WFA, The IP I want to use is reachable. However DFM put that unreachable IP there, and how to trigger DFM/WFA to use the IP I want? Thanks!

periodically I am getting following on the filer's console. There seems no issue to access CIFS/NFS, and I don't see there is uid 20041 from that linux server. Could you please advice what could cause the error message? Thanks! Mon Jan 20 16:11:03 EST filername:auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginTraceMsg:info]: AUTH: Error in passwd look up of uid 20041 during login from x.x.x.x.

You are pointing me to a right direction! WFA can not reach these filers via discovered IP's. However, DFM can reach them. Now, I guess what I need to do is to use IP's are reachable by both DFM and WFA, and use the IP to register with DFM, and let WFA to re-list corresponding entries. How do I re-register the filer with an IP that I want on DFM? As far as I know, I would not or did not use IP's for backup to register. Then after that, how do I trigger DFM/WFA to rediscover the right IP's?

Thanks for sharing your in-depth knowledge. I will be checking how filers are registered on DFM. However, these filers and their corresponding IP's are picked up and listed automatically, I just highlighted them and Enter Credentials. IP is reachable from DFM, and even allow me to log into it via the IP and putty on DFM.

Great! I definitely would look through your link late. For now, could you please help me on the following: I have made progress, and passed that screen of entering the detail for DFM host. Now I am in the screen of verifying credentials. It got failed on 5 filers, and succeeded on 3 filers. Any idea on the reason of the failure? I can log into it via putty by using the same account Also, why it picked up an IP for the backup segment, not the primary IP for these filers? Thank you!

At beginning of installing WFA, just completed Run wfa_ocsetup.exe on this WFA server, then come to the next screen (please see the attachment), asking me to enter OnCommand Unified Manager. I don't know what to do here. 1. Is OnCommand Unified Manager the same as my DFM server which is different from this WFA server? 2. By default, What is wfa account? should it be created on that OnCommand Unified Manager server, or is it just a local account on WFA server? Thanks for your help!

Your answers seem not what I am asking for. Let me try it again. Within the same volume, I have about 100 qtrees (shaers), the plan is to migrate some of qtrees first, I understand I can use QSM to migrate individual qtree. My question is, after I migrate a certain number of qtrees, can I use VSM to migrate the volume with the rest of qtrees and without those already migrated shares to the same volume name in the destination? Thank you!
