I am going to swap a couple of ports among 4 ports in a LACP group for better connecting to switches.
I would like to confirm with Experts, all I need to do is just to swap cables without the need to change any configurations becaus all configurations should be staying in the same.
Correct? Are there any commands to "rescan" ports/LACP to refresh the change?

the switch has always been 10Gb.
I just don't know why Admin and Oper speed been set differently here?
Should I change Admin to 10Gb, same as Oper speed?
Why one port has two states, and what Admin state is used for?

Okay.
some of ports being set to 1000/10000. Should I change them Admin to 10000 as well?
If I change Admin's speed to 10000, as you said, there will re-initiate the connection, would that cause LIF be migrated?
Why we need Admin, if we already have Oper?

The reason I am asking is because we are planning on a networking maintenance to customer data switches.
Therefore, all data connections will be stopped and reconnected. I am thinking to migrate all NFS/CIFS connections to the other node in the cluster, and then revert them back after the maintenance is completed.
Does that sounds all we need to do for this maintenance ? Am I missing anything? If this command can do the work?
Thank you!

the port speed is 1000/10000Mbps on Admin/Oper. What is the difference between Admin/Oper, which speed really it is running under? Can I change Admin speed online if I have to?
Thanks in advance for your advisors.

Nice to see you here, Bob!
For total of 30 SSD's, would one of each P2, and P3(DATA) for spare on each node be enough? which means on each node, there will be one P2, and one P3 for spares on each node.

NetApp SnapShot uses copy-on-write technology. However, there would be difference in the case of if SnapReserve is enabled or not.
If SR is not enabled, then there will be no data copies at all (so, not copy-on-write strictly speaking), because new data will always be written to new and empty blocks.
If SR is enabled, then copying will happen, and blocks will be written to the reserved area before writes, which will also have a performance hit, because the change will be waiting on writes.
Am I understanding this correctly?
Thanks!

I am trying to physically identify a node within a HA, are there any commands? I am not sure which one is which in the canbinet in Data Center. Thanks for your inputs!

Okay. I can understand what HCI can offer versus CI.
Now, if we have a already well CI storage cluster, any strong reasons we should convert it to HCI, keep in mind that this will cost fortune.

We have used a dedicated physical port for cluster and nodes management, separated from data LACP ports group on each node in the cluster. LACP group (4x10GbE) has been used for all DATA LIF's
My question is:
Is this still a recommended setup? Can node mgmt LIF be created on Data LACP group which should be used for Data Lif? and Why?

I know what should be listed.
However, why nothing has been listed there? and what problem would that cause( I hve not see issues so far)? What is the different between ns-switch and "srouce order" ( to me they are the same)?

I have two commands as listed below.
I thought nsswitch should define the sequene to find a object. But, why ns-switch here is empty?
Then The source order here seems like similar to what nsswitch is supposed to do. Source Order and ns-switch, what are differences?
clus::vserver services name-service*> vserver show -vserver vserver1 -fields ns-switch vserver ns-switch --------- --------- vserver1 -
clus::vserver services name-service*> vserver services name-service ns-switch show -vserver vserver1 Source Vserver Database Order --------------- ------------ --------- vserver1 hosts files, dns vserver1 group files, ldap vserver1 passwd files, ldap vserver1 netgroup files vserver1 namemap files 5 entries were displayed.

the vmotion I am talking about is the Vsphere vmotion which move VM's from one datastore to other. Woud this effect snapshots?

SnapShots will be changed as we remove or change the data in the datastore.
My question, can vmotion in vSphere change the size of SnapShots in a datastore on the storage?

One addtional question is not clear to me. Based on my understanding, ip.fastpath.enable is enabled/disabled on nodes level. So, if I disable it, should it effect all SVM's on the node?
We are running 9.1p6 and planning on upgrading to 9.3.
I read KB, and understand the change about ip.fastpath. However, I am not clear on if our environment would be exposed to the change or not.
1. ip.fastpath enable currently is set to on and with deprecated. Doe that mean ip.fastpath is not in use? If not, then we don't need to worry about the change, because we are not using fastpath anyway. Correct?
2. If we do need to worry about it. What changes should I make before the upgrade?
Suppose there are three LIF's. admin_lif, data_lif1, and data_lif2, and also there are three different gateways for each LIF.
The user is coming from data_lif1, then what rule should SVM follow to egress the traffic? should I make sure the GW for data_lif2 will have routes to reach out the user who is coming from data_lif1?
Can somebody please shed the light on the issue for me?

AlexDawson,
for the same question, and same configurations as said, what if the required latency is 8 ms or below, how many IOPS can I achieve? if you can advice.
I found how many iops that FAS8080EX (all flrash) can provide in your link, but what I am looking for is not all flash, but FAS8080(2-node HA SAS) only, let's say there are about 72 SAS disks.

One more follow-up, if you don't mind.
Can headswap happen between two existing HA pairs in the same cluster? In another words, move all existing aggrs from one HA pair to the other that has had its own existing aggrs, and then retire the HA pair? Assuming they are both FAS nodes, and accepting HA can accept enough shelve.
OK.
Can we do "headswap upgrade" if HA pairs will be replaced are two FAS nodes, and two new nodes are AFA's ?
If the answer is "NO", then we have to use the method as you described previously that connect all 6 nodes simultaneously to the cluster switches for migration. Correct?
It is not metrocluster.

I need to keep an aggr from one of 2 away nodes. So, my question is if I can move the aggregate over to the other existing HA pair in the same cluster, then without moving data on the aggr.
The following is the doc I found and sounds like it can do the work. However, I DO recognize that this doc is for 7-mode, not for CDOT. Are there any precedures we can do to achieve the same for CDOT cluster?
