Even though 4 may be correct, it is too trivial to be interesting. 3 demonstrates that LUN space reservation is not honored by aggregate if volume guarantee is set to none (and LUN is empty in this case). Every test I took had some questions where you simply need to know what is expected to be correct answer. So even if you have good experience attending training makes sense - test questions are usually aligned with training materials.

I'm afraid I do not see where the problem is. SnapMirror is one-to-one copy of source volume. If you have SnapVault configuration from source volume you can copy exactly the same snapshots (that are replicated to destination SnapMirror volume) from SnapMirror destination. May be if you show your current configuration for SnapMirror and SnapVault it would be easier to understand.

In case of real FAS you connect to console over serial port or SSH, from some client or terminal. Keyboard layout is entirely controlled by the client you are using. For simulator I do not think it is (easily) possible; you are effectively on BIOS level.ay be VMware or other hypervisors allow changing keyboard layout in VM. Try asking on VMware forum.

You can reassign data partitions separately if necessary. You still need root partitions for second node. Note that it is recommended to have at least one disk with full ownership (root + data partition) for the purpose of writing core.

If you want to sanitize disks so old data is not visible you can simply reinitialize them (special boot menu - 4). If this is not a concern - simply reattach shelves to new head and destroy foreign aggregates there.

Well, it mostly depends on whether new shelves have the same disk type. DS4243 may be SAS as well as SATA. It is not usually recommended to mix them in the same stack.

Recommended action is to fix current cabing first Sorry to disagree, but I do not see anything to fix here. While it does not follow cabling guide to the letter, it is redundant and clear. There are enough ports to connect extra shelves.

It makes me wonder how people who successfully use 'nfs.authsys.extended_groups_ns.enable' make it work? In several of those cases I am aware of NIS or LDAP were used. I am intruigued by your comment 'This can come from AD, but not via user mapping'. Does that mean there is a way to get 'nfs.authsys.extended_groups_ns.enable' working without a patched NFS client? How can I do that? We use AD with rfc2307bis schema so all the data is there if I can find a way to use it. You need to configure filer to use LDAP for UNIX name-to-id mapping. You can look at TR-3458 as starting point.

If I read it correctly, you expect UNIX group information to come from AD. That cannot work. Filer does not map Windows groups to UNIX GIDs so it has no way to actually check permissions. Chown would work as group is resolved on client side to numerical value. I do not know why first 16 groups work, but I suspect that they are taken from NFS packet. This (filer) option would work your client and filer used common LDAP backend to store UID/GID. This can come from AD, but not via user mapping, so your checking with wcc is pretty much irrelevant here, sorry.

To have high availablility (i.e. transparent takeover of failed controller by its partner) both controllers must be up and running. And for a controller to be up and running it must have disks assigned to it, root aggregate and volume etc. So the only way to get what customer wants is to have second controller as cold spare part, without any run-rime fault tolerance.

What exactly "new controller" means? If it is replacement controller, you need to move CF card from old to new one. If it is aditional controller, netboot the same version and install Data ONTAP. See https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=1012003&pmv=print&impressions=false

I had no problems creating SIM cluster manually. So it could be System Setup limitation. Is the goal to get working cluster or to test system setup workflow?

snapmirror status lists local filer name (at least I assume it is filer name) and snapmirror.conf lists file IP. I suspect that causes snapmirror to skip these entries.
