SnapMirror does not keep all snapshots. It needs only one - latest - snapshot as baseline. During next update it creates new snapshot and transfers difference between baseline and current snapshot. After that old baseline is removed and last transferred snapshot becomes new baseline.

Snapshot unique data contains blocks that were deleted or overwritten since snapshot had been taken. I do not think you can see whether snapshot was fully transferred in snap list output - you need to check snapmirror status. Although indirectly when SnapMirror transfer is in progress, you see two snapshots on source - so we may assume transfer finished (but successfully or not we do not know).

It should be possible to perform VSM between the same major versions (i.e. 8.0.x). If you use QSM, any combination of versions should work.

In snspmirror.conf only filer names (i.e. hostnames) can be used. To route via different interfaces you need to define multipath connection. It can have just one pair of addresses, it need not be actual "multi". Please check documentation for exact syntax.

Default security flavor used by Linux is AUTH_SYS and your error message is related to access to exported resource, not to UID - it is not yet as far as to compare UID. Assuming you checked allowed IP addresses, common cases are incorrect path to mount or NFS v3 vs. NFS v4 (recent Linux versions default to NFS v4). Can’t give more specific answers about cDOT, sorry.

Remove aggregate, zero spares, remove disk ownership. Then you get clean shelves that can be added to any other filer. These two drive shelves comprise their own aggregate which previously held backup data. We have moved to a different model filer for this task and because of that, I need to remove the trays and add them to the new filer. I have deleted all volumes and the aggregate now shows 0% used space. Is it safe to delete the aggregate and then remove the drive shelves or is there some other process that needs to happen? Thank you in advance. For independent switches the only option is to use single mode VIF. It won’t work with LCAP. It is possible to use single mode as secondary VIF with LACP to individual switches as primary.

I’m not networking specialist so I guess you better discuss it with your network guys. If anything, using vPC mean spending 4 to 6 additional ports only to interconnect switches together.

The first obvious one (and requires no licenses) - stop access to LUN, used ndmpcopy to copy it to another volume, update lun mapping. If LUNs are in qtrees, you can use QSM to migrate every qtree to different volume.

Yes, whatever method you chose it will be disruptive in your configuration. What is the best really depends on how much downtime you can afford, which licenses you have etc.

Is it system I'd of your filer or partner? If not, shelf was used by other filer in the past. You will need to manually assign disks using force option. Be sure to double check!

No, that's not possible. You can either use VSM (any reason you do not?) or arrange data in qtree on source as well. The scenario is this: we use volume-to-qtree snapmirror to replicate volumes from 2220's in our remote offices to qtrees on our 3270 at headquarters. In the event of a disaster, we would make the qtrees on the 3270 read-write and use them until a new 2220 was available. Then we would need to migrate the qtrees back to volumes on the new 2220. I'm trying to determine the best plan to migrate the qtrees to volumes on a new 2220. I see what you mean that we could share out both sides and use standard Windows copy commands, but I was hoping there was a snapmirror option.
