My assumption is that any newly protected data would us SV is this change is made; Yes. your assumptions is correct. what happen with the existing SM qsm's? They stay as it is. Could i do a SM quiesce//break...then a 'snapvault update -S ' to resync using the most common snapshot? Don’t know if this would work, give it a try. Regards adai

Hi Scott, You must change this option to make SV as your preferred backup method. By default its QSM.Thats the reason you see its QSM wining in spite of all SV license being enabled. # dfm options list pmQSMBackupPreferred Option Value

Yes, there is only events and no information that is captured in the reports. AFAIK not possible with the API. As what you are looking for is a histroy info of how many times the volume was grown or some thing of that sort if I understand correctly. This info has to be captured in dfm like the volume graphs which have history. Did you check the volume total vs used capacity graph ? That might help as it might show the volume size. Regards

Volume auto grow is trap from filer so we have no info like the growth rate abnormal, which is calculated by DFM based on history usage of the volume. Regards adai

Since the post said 3.7, that was my first take.Since you are on 3.7.1 its not the product bug. Looks like your VM is not able to handle, as evilensky suggested can you check your esx and the performance of this VM ? Regards adai Message was edited by: Adaikkappan Arumugam

Hi Pete, Ok let me make myself clear, By yes DFM 4.0 is vFiler DR capable I meant Vfiler with DR Mirror Policy. If you see my reply they are in two parts, for Data OnTap Vfiler DR we are not. But For DR Mirror Vfiler DR yes.(Here the VFiler names are different in Primary and DR node) Regards adai

I am wondering if DFM 4.0 can create a "vFiler DR" relationship from a vFiler or Dataset containing a vFiler by applying a "DR Mirror" Protection Policy? Yes DFM 4.0 is capable. This is what I would expect from it, but obviously DFM 4.0 does not deal with "vFiler DR" at all... or am I wrong? But Vfiler DR of ONTAP is not supported by DFM 4.0 Regards adai

There is already a RFE to specify the aggregate for the root volume of a vfiler. Today this functionality is not available. Talk to your NetApp contact and add your case to bug324997. Regards adai

Try to ping the source system fas980-rtp7 from Destination System: fas980-rtp8 with its hostname fas980-rtp7. If it's not reachable, try adding an entry in the /etc/hosts file to locally resolve it on the destination filer. Regards adai

Yes.The burt requires fix from ONTAP which is 7.3.2 or latter and not dfm. If you run DFM 3.8 and above with Ontap 7.3.1 you run this risk. Regards adai

Protection Manager only transfer the backups created by SME/SMSQL it does not create on the primary(which in your case is SME/SMSQL). Create a primary backup on SME or SMQSL and them see the jobs it should transfer the backup created on primary to the Backup node and create a backup on the Backup node. Regards adai

My head is spinning but that is a normal state :-) Check out my RED comments Yes checking it 1.32 times the source volume size ( at a minimum? ) Yes. inode number is below the threshold.( how can i check if the inode number of the new destination volume is below the threashold and which threshold? ) you can check the same in the followin report. dfm report view volumes-thresholds <volume name> inodes use the volume full and volume nearly full threshold to generate events. They dont have thresholds of their own. volume used space is below the vol full or nearly full threshold ( on the new destination volume? ) Yes.
